Dining & Local Flavors

Our personal recommendations for spots to eat and drink around Bradenton, from casual dockside seafood to creative tacos in the arts district.

Pier 22

Pier 22

Waterfront dining on the Manatee River right along the downtown Riverwalk. It’s a great spot to sit outside on the patio, watch the boats, and have a local craft beer. The menu is massive, but we usually go for the fresh grouper sandwich or the wood-fired pizzas.

Birdrock Taco Shack

Birdrock Taco Shack

Located in the Village of the Arts, this is a quirky, surf-themed spot run by Chef Dave Shiplett. It’s set in a historic 1920s cottage and serves up creative, high-flavor tacos (like Peking duck or avocado banh mi) alongside cold drinks. Super relaxed and very local.

Star Fish Company

Star Fish Company

Just a short drive down to the historic commercial fishing village of Cortez. It's a cash-only, dockside seafood shack with outdoor picnic tables overlooking Sarasota Bay. Expect no-frills boxes of wild-caught Florida shrimp, blackened grouper, and hushpuppies. Go early to beat the line.
